A Full Day Ahead

Do I have a full agenda today!  The two grandkids will be here anytime now, but hopefully not before I can get the sprinkler going on the lawn.

And grandson Eli, who's 13 or 14 yrs old, is flying in from Chicago before noon, so I'm picking him up at the airport.  Which is SO crazy, becuz it's SUCH a mess down there & I'm SO not the one best equipped to deal with the whole airport traffic & trying to find him situation.  Especially with the two younger grandkids in tow!  I'll have to leave like an hour early, so I don't leave him wandering around the place forever!  But if any one of the grandkids can do it, it's him, he's very independant!

It'll be great to see him again, I haven't seen him since last year around this time when he made his first annual trip for a week of soccer camp here in Omaha.   Jeez, he'd grown up SO MUCH since I'd last seen him before that!  They really change a lot at that age, especially when they live out of state & you only see them once a year.  He'll only be spending today & the nite with us, before I take him to the Creighton University campus to get him checked in for his week long stay.

Lanny's been looking very forward to a field trip to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo with the Sun Dawgs today, ever since we got the schedule a few weeks ago.  We had his sack lunch all planned, & spending money set aside.  These kinds of things really mean a lot to him & he gets pretty stressed out about making sure everything is ready.

.... then I get a message yesterday afternoon from one of the Sun Dawgs supervisors, that some higher up authority was making her cut back on the number of kids that could go, & guess who is 1 of the poor 5 being CUT??!!??  DAAAAANG!  I almost cried when I heard that!  I was SOOOO ... She's just darn lucky I wasn't home when she called!  I suppose I could have called her back, but given a few moments to rationalize, I realize it's not her fault.  And all my whining wasn't going to change things, or it might even have gotten some other poor little innocent kid booted off the bus instead.   But it just doesn't seem right at all - they should be much better planned for those circumstances.  The sup said there were 5 kids being cut, so I take it his permission slip was one of those last 5 turned in?

In this case, I think Lanny'll be OK with it, as he was somewhat disappointed that he wouldn't be able to go to the airport & spend the day with Eli.  Now he'll be able to, so I'm sure that'll help make him feel a little better about missing the trip.

It's very HOT & DRY here!!  I'm off to water the grass & get the day started!

Well that seems strange; if all children pay for the program ( it IS a paid program isnt it?) then should all children get to go?

Very strange but youre right, its not your fault; thats something I always try to remember when Im dealing with people on the phone and I admit Ive forgotten a few times

Enjoy your visit with Eli and HAPPY HUMPY my friend!
