this is a place for me
... and for you
~ Hi ~
Anyhoo, Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours! (And we miss ya just a wee bit, too!)
. . It is good to be reading writings from you again. . & I am very glad that your grandbaby is doing very very well
. . WOW
That would be wayyyyy tooooo much for me to handle! I am glad it all turned out well in the end. .& what a birthday to remember!
Grandkids Landon, who's 8 yrs old, & his little sister Logan, who's 5 yrs old, were at my house this eve after I took them shopping for new water shoes to take to the lake with us this week-end & to have to wear up at the river. After dinner they took good showers & headed home with their mom about 9 PM.
It was a very nice evening with them. When they left I gave them each a jar of water & let them cut a few flowers from the back yard to take to their school teachers.
Half hour after they left, I got one of those phone calls that immediately gives me a sinking feeling of panic. I could hear both the kids loudly crying in the background & my emotional daughter Angie was crying so loudly it took quite awhile for me to understand that one of the kids hamsters, Ariel was found dead in her cage when they got home
.
The tears were soon running down my cheeks after talking to each one of them, they were so upset & it was so sad. The poor little guys
They had aquired 2 hamsters, brother & sister, almost 2 yrs ago & each had their own cage, Ariel was Logans & was kept in her bedroom & Dragon is Landons & is kept in his bedroom. Landon was in charge of feeding them & did a good job of it.
I think hamsters only have an average life span of 2 years, & these guys turned 2 in March, so they did pretty good. I gotta give them a lot of credit myself, as I honestly never figured they'd last even 6 months
It's hard enough at Angies age to deal with the death of a beloved pet, let alone the 2 little ones who are presently going thru a lot of emotional turmoil anyway with thier folks escalating marital problems.
Logan called me back later & asked we could take Ariel to my moms house to bury her this week-end when we go down there for the long holiday week-end. I told her we certainly could. I told Angie she'll have to keep her on ice until then tho & we'll have to transport her in a small cooler for the 6 hr drive
, but I'm sure it'll make the kids feel better to give her a nice burial in a nice place, with lots of family there.
Pets teach us all so much about life ...
Hope everyone enjoys a great Memorial Day week-end! We're heading down to my moms house on the Lake of the Ozarks Friday afternoon & returning home on Monday.
Thanks! Do either of you have any plans for the coming week-end? Is it a holiday for you?
